WHAT ROKS IS ALL ABOUT
Welcome to ROKS! ROKS exists to support families in raising children to find Christ and fulfill their God-given purpose.
Kids are an important part of our family at Hillcrest! We believe it is important for children to be nurtured and taught about Jesus Christ in a loving and safe environment.
September 7, 2008: Regular Programs begin at 10:30 am
WHERE DO YOUR KIDS FIT?
Pebbles Nursery (birth to 2 years) provides loving care for infants during the morning service beginning at 10:30 am. Our Mother’s Privacy Room and change-station are always available for nursing moms. Jennifer Watterson serves as the Coach for this area.
Gems (2 years to 4 years) provides energetic, interactive programs and childcare during Sunday morning service (10:30 am) for your preschoolers. Come see our preschool area and find out about our new services for preschoolers. Arlene Richmond serves as the Coach for this area.
Kinder - Grade 2 ROKS: children join us at 10:30 am down the blue hallway in the Mission Station (Room 2.2) for their own open session teaching time followed up by many fun and creative stations to reinforce the day’s lesson. You may pick up your kids following service in the ROKS Mission Station.
Grades 3-5 ROKS At 10:30 ROKS begins! Kids join us for their own open session worship time in the ROKS Clubhouse. After a kid-friendly worship and teaching time they will join their small groups for follow-up activities and discussion.
ARE KIDS EVER IN THE ADULT SERVICE?
We believe it is important for families to worship together at Hillcrest. For this reason, the Gems to Grade 5 children join the adults two or three times each semester for a combined service. In addition, all the children from preschool to grade 5 join their families in the sanctuary for several weeks over the Christmas season.
WHO WORKS IN ROKS?
Each school year over 70 adults and youth volunteer their time and energy to serve the children and families at Hillcrest! We encourage parents to be hands-on involved with their own children and have volunteers serving in many different areas—from office support to childcare givers, activity leaders, musicians, small group guides, special needs caregivers, and many other areas. Since we want ROKS to be a fun and safe place for kids, we screen all our volunteers and routinely perform criminal record checks. Come talk to us about how you could become involved in ROKS!
SPECIAL NEEDS
We believe God has great plans for all kids! In ROKS this means that we are committed to working alongside families to help their children experience Christ’s love and our community’s care. We recognize that some children may need a special friend to help them focus and participate in a group setting or other individual attention. Our Special Needs Team is available to help provide loving care and support to children with various needs and our facility is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us if you have further questions or would like to discuss how your child will learn and grow best in ROKS.
PRESCHOOL PROTOCOL
For all our Preschool programs (Pebbles and Gems) we have established a sign-in and out system so we can safely monitor each child’s coming and going. You will also receive a number for your child so you can be paged during service if your child needs you. We prefer you to change your own child’s diapers so your number will be displayed on the screen in the sanctuary whenever this or other assistance becomes necessary.
WHAT HAPPENS ON A SUNDAY MORNING?
10:30 am…
- Childcare provided in the Pebbles Nursery (follow South hallway from foyer)
- Classes & care for Gems in the Preschool Center (Room 2.1)
- Kinder – Grade 2 meet at the Mission Station (Room 2.2) for open session & stations
- Grades 3 - 5 ROKS meet in the ROKS Clubhouse (Room 2.3) for open session & stations
